Root Canal Retreatment

The vast majority of teeth with Root Canal Therapy heal well, but occasionally, a tooth that has previously had Root Canal Therapy fails to heal.  This can be caused by numerous reasons:

  • Untreated canals from a previous initial procedure
  • Severely narrowed or calcified canals
  • Failure to place final restoration after initial procedure, or
  • Contamination of a previous endodontic procedure due to decay or a fracture line.

Frequently, the tooth can be Retreated to address the problem that did not allow the tooth to heal with the initial treatment.
